My Favorite Pasta Salad

Strawberry Orange Pasta Salad.

It's the best!

 2 cups Sliced Strawberries

 2/3 Cup Kraft Poppyseed Dressing

mixed with

1/2 cup Mayo

 20 ounce jar of mandarin oranges (drained)

 1/2 cup-ish sliced green onions

oh and 4 cups cooked Bow Tie Pasta (not pictured :)

Mix is all up and put it to chill in the fridge whilst you chill on the couch.

yum.

New Headboard! Finally!

I've been pondering a headboard for a while now and this weekend we finally made a decision.

An Old Door.

BEFORE:

Saturday Mark and I went downtown Kalamazoo to the Architectural Salvage Store (Heritage Architectural Salvage)and found a nice old door. 

 Brought it home and sanded off the top layer of paint.

I wiped it down with T.S.P. and then put a light coat of light aqua-y blue on it.

Took A+D Ointment (didn't have Vaseline) and rubbed it on several spots on the door. Saw this technique here. Made it easy to rub off some of the white paint after it dried.

I painted the whole door with 2 coat of Glidden Parchment White in Semi Gloss.

Young House Love found this to be the closest match to their Ikea White Bed. So I thought it would match my Ikea White dressers. I love Blogland...

 Mark worked his magic and attached two 1 x 4 legs that attached to the bed frame and then to the door on top. This way we didn't have to attach the thing to the wall.

AFTER:

We still have those little baby lights from Ikea on our nightstands.

Too cheap to find something more substantial right now!

Whole Project cost us $110 dollars.

Would have been a good 25 dollars cheaper if I didn't have to have the door knob and faceplate. We bought them separate to keep some of the door-ish-ness.

I think it turned out great!
I need some cute little pillows!

Newly Covered Craft Table and A Junk Drawer Privacy Screen.

My Table in my craft room is constructed from a hollow core door ($17 home depot) and my (newly painted) night stands from when I was a kid.

Table top has been unfinished for a year and I bought 2+ yards of oil cloth to cover it then decided to paint it instead.

After the first coat of paint I changed my mind back to my crazy oil cloth idea.

Painting is awesome in theory but, I suck at it.

I cut of the excess and Mark helped me line it up and staple.

Quick and Easy.

I know it's a crazy print.

I love it for that reason! 

It's fun and bold and wonderful.

On to the next project.

Happy Mother's Day!

It's been a beautiful day here in Portage MI.

70's and Sunny.

Perfect.

My husband and Daughter took me out to lunch.

I cleaned out the Garage.

Spent one full hour (maybe even 2) in the craft room.

Walked Josie (dog.)

Went to the playground with Sydney.

Congregated with Neighbors.

Fantastic and Full Day.

 Since I'm spending some time in my craft room right now I'll show you what I'm up to or looking at or whatever.

I love this thing.

It's a home decor magazine made just for ME!

Some girl friends and I went to a crap book expo on Thursday and I came home with a boat load of stamps.

I love them.

Master Bedroom. Trying to decide on a headboard.

I have gone without a headboard for over 5 years.

 It drives me nuts.

 The problem is that I cant settle on something to fix it. A traditional headboard, a door, making something out of old wood, and on, and on.

There are too many options!

My Ikea Nightstands.

I like them.
I want to change out the knobs.

I got that print at world market.

 It reminded me of my trips to Ireland.

Why can't good alarm clocks be cuter...

My little pip squeak lamp from Ikea. It's to small but I had to replace a lamp Sydney broke and ended with this out of the craft room.
