Moments of Insanity

I thought I would NEVER want another fixer upper.....

I think this house is speaking to me. It was built in 1973. It doesn't appear that they changed anything,..at least not for the better.

It's got over 2000 sq ft with a finished basement to equal 3700 sq ft.

Mark thinks I'm nuts. Here is the kicker... I think with some serious TLC we could have the space we need for cheap. It's in a great neighborhood with the house around the corner selling for 150,000 dollars MORE than this (149,000 versus 299,000 for other house)

It's ugly all the way around but never far from my mind.....because I'm insane.

I Have a Collection

I started buying olive pitchers when we lived in our old house.

 Everytime I saw one I snatched it up.

I've only got 6, but they are still some of my favorite things. All different and still the same.

The Purge

I ran out of contact solution last night. So I went to my handy back up supplies.

Still no Contact Sol'n but I did find Ck-one circa 1995. Do people still wear that? Truth is....I still like it. There were also some 5 year old plus bottles of random Ralph Lauren Scents (I buy to much of this crap.)

Anyway time to purge, purge , purge.

Oh, and my jewelry cleaner jar was in that basket and at some point turned on it's side spilling out it's toxic liquid and ruining some of my stuff. Luckily what things were ruined- 5 year old face soap I didn't like so I put away thinking maybe I'd like it later or....in a pinch, Suntan lotion from before Syd was born, bar soap (I don't use bar soap??) and etc. etc.

I think if I gonna have a back up supplies basket it should be full of......back up supplies I actually use. Don't you? I do see some deodorant back there and I do use that!!

Ew, I sprayed some Abercrombie perfume on and now I'm going to have to change, PU old perfume. Maybe it smelled that bad to begin with...

We looked at this House Last Weekend

It needs some work (kitchen) but it is really fantastic. I love that it still has most of the ceiling medallions and all the old lights (which you can't see). I'm in love. Well maybe just in-like with it. It's on a busy road but in a great area. Oh and it's like 150 years old. Michigan Basement. A little creepy in the back of the second floor. A lot of work. We have a 2 year old....

I Finally Ordered That Pottery Barn Sofa. YEAH!

I ordered this sofa today.

I'm very excited.

I'm very sure it will make my family room look just like this.

Or better.

It is supposed to be ready for delivery after 12-7-09.

I got the Brushed Canvas: Walnut Color.

I wanted to order an extra slipcover....until I found out that they are $700 or more a piece. Holy Crap.

My Mom Working on Sydney's Quilt

Just going thru some old pics and found these from when I was pregnant and mom was making Sydneys quilt. My mom rocks.

My Filthy Workshop

This is where we spent a lot of time in our first few years in our house. Painting, painting, painting. Trim, Doors, more trim, more doors.

The previous owner had a nasty filthy house but a fabulous pole barn with a paint booth for cars in it. Now the house looks pretty great (probably not fabulous) and the barn is tragic. I'm sure Tim... the previous owner... would be rolling over in his grave if he knew the state of his beloved pole barn.

It is a GREAT place too work on projects though. Just put a coat of primer on the frame from previous post out there.

My Salvation Army Frame.

I'm gonna work on this frame today. Make her pretty. Someone painted that picture for their mom back in 1967. It says so on the back. It's painted on a piece of wood that doesn't really fit the frame. Feel kind of guilty disposing of it. I'm sure I'll keep it in the basement for several years.....then throw it out or take it back to salvation army :)

Interesting Bathroom

We've got our house on the market as you may already know and I spend a lot of evenings looking for our next "dream home" on-line. Well we've started to think maybe we could handle another fixer upper (not as bad as or current house started out). Anyway I found a great 60's era ranch and was look thru the pics of it on-line and came across this gem. Mirrored wallpaper???? I love it! and by love it I mean, I can't believe my eyes!

Come to my house on most days and this is what you'll find. Honestly the rest of the house is usually clean but not the room that gives the first impression. How frustrating....

Not Ready for Christmas Decor

Got rid of the Halloween decor and put my mantel back together....apparently I'm not ready for Christmas yet..... or Fall for that matter.

I got the prints in the frames from Ikea.

Sydney is Sick

Love this Color Combo.

I got called at work to pick up my sick child from daycare today. Temp 102. I'm currently wondering if I'm a sucky mom or if this illness just had a short onset time. She was a happy little lady when I dropped her off this A.M. I'm a pharmacist and my pharmacy was busy today too..... thank goodness there were two pharmacists on duty...now one. I wish him good luck and my poor technicians too.

Anyway that picture has nothing to do with this topic except that I love the black and white bedding with the yellow and felt like posting it
Sydney is laying on her crib mattress on the floor of the rec room watching Little Bear and I don't find that show very intellectually (did I spell that right) stimulating so here I am.

Guess I'll go take down the Halloween Decor.

Syd's Room

I don't think we have any before pics of this but it was varnished pine paneling. We added new windows, doors and carpet. We also did some serious painting in here.

What we Bought on Our Ikea Trip.... Woot Woot!!!

And so...with our child safely with her Grandma and Grandpa we headed across state to IKEA in Canton, MI. OUR GOAL: Storage for Sydney's Crap....I mean toys.

So we looked and looked and looked. I was beginning to think this Ikea trip would turn out like so many others where I showed up with big ideas and high hopes and left with $4.00 worth of tea lights and a $1.99 throw rug.

Then I found the EXPEDIT.

Now don't get me wrong I've seen this there a zillion times before but on this trip it spoke to me. So Mark and I loaded it up and home it came. We also bought these cool door insert things that hide some of the crap... I mean toys. You'll see those below.

I usually don't get so excited about Ikea stuff but this really worked out great. I'm pretty geeked.
